Very good but NTFS formatted disk to format to use with a Mac!

Discomfited before the apparent failure of my backup, I started the process of return and refund facilitated by the excellent contact with Amazon. But ... I nosed the web, I found and that is my operating disk to my satisfaction !! To avoid this concern here is the "recipe":
"Start Disk Utility, it is found in the Applications folder and sub folders Utilities.
Select the icon of the physical hard drive - not its already existing partition just below in offset to the right, but the physical hard disk itself. This icon bears the manufacturer's name and indicates its ability - on the left side of the window.
Click the Partition tab in the right part of the window.
Above the area where it says Current, replace the word Current (drop down) by 1 partition, or more, if necessary.
At the bottom of the zone, click Options. There several options available to you depending on the solution you choose to implement:
GUID Partition Table for Intel-based Macs
Apple Partition Map for PowerPC Macs
Master boot record (MBR) if you want to use this drive in both Mac OS and Windows
Click OK to confirm the selection. Then back in the main window, choose the desired format:
Mac OS Extended (Journaled) for use exclusively on Mac
MS-DOS (FAT) to use a PC or Mac, but with the limitation of 4GB per file
