Many years ago I bought a Saeco Aroma Nero with which I was very pleased. After they had to be replaced, I bought a Saeco Nero, after the acquisition by Philips. Instead of metal, there was now plastic, you could see the cost savings and the machine was far worse. Replacement had to be found: The Kenwood ES 024. Again solid metal, again good knobs, slightly different but certainly not bad in design. The espresso tastes again, the pump makes a lot more, the lead times are under 30 seconds. Conclusion: For me, a very good machine needs little space and feels very solid.
