Mounted on a D700 full frame so this lens provides excellent sharpness up to 200mm, then a little less accurate but still very correct. The colors are very saturated and deep. The reduced opening has no impact on the quality of photos, especially as the VR stabilization works very well. But is sometimes slow autofocus in low light. Not really ideal for sports photos or moving objects, but against ideal vacation to get an architectural detail or landscape. At Nikon, the 80-200 is probably brighter, but it is also much more expensive and sharpness is not radically superior (for my taste). An excellent compromise, therefore, not suitable for all uses.
