Initially focused on the straight razor, I was finally put off by the cost to the equipment and the time required for learning shaving techniques (which does not mean that I do not come more later).
After extensive research on the subject including through specialized forums, I finally pulled over safety razors, easier to tackle. In the candidate, Muhle, Edwin Jagger, Merkur, Feather, and Parker Timor
The results are quite convincing from the first shave. The cuts are rare if we do not support as an ox (which happily exchange razors multileaf). I managed to get a BBS effect (baby skin) in three passes from the first shave and non-optimal conditions (I used the end of my shaving gel bomb). I say therefore not on me just felt some irritation after shaving because I think a shave cream will significantly improve the comfort and efficiency of it (especially in the neck that is quite sensitive part).
Its assets:
- Razor two parts which prevents assembly errors of the head when razor blade change
- Its weight (120g), which requires almost no support for shaving
- The size of the handle (I have big hands) and "Barber Pole" finish that offers excellent grip
- Comb closed and right bar that are ideal for a beginner to safety razor and avoid misguided cuts.
- A little more aggressive than some models (I think including the Edwin Jagger DE86 reputed to be quite flexible and permissive use) but allows a close shave without much effort.
- Shaving Time is not so extended that it (another 5 minutes) and the result is often more successful than a multileaf.
- The cost of the double blades is paltry compared to the multi-blade refill cartridges (1.60 pack of 10 Gillette blue against extra 25 8 replacement blades for Gillette Fusion).
Overall a very nice product, I highly recommend to those who wish to learn to shave a more traditional shape and much less expensive.
