Without the device, my Macbook is out only 60Hz - which leads to image defects (tearing) especially when moving in the image.
Interposed with the Dr. HDMI you can then suddenly the Macbook adjust 50Hz and the picture is great.
He needs no electricity. He gets over the HDMI cable.
I've been using only the already stored presets, because it's all worked out the same (with me no. 5).
You can probably also up load your own. Because of a good documentation or database lacks.
