The Caterpillar, we have now for about a month and he belongs to the favorite toy and has fulfilled all expectations: Papa finds him great son is excited. The excavator is very good move, my son copes well with the operation.
Insert place of excavators both during lifting of Duplo bricks and (just is autumn) chestnut and dredging of rocks and sand.
Controls are mainly above the black lever with which you control all the joints and also the blade opens and closes. My son usually helps "by hand" to and controls the blade separately, then there's something easier for him (for older children but not necessary). The tower can be rotated 360 degrees and locked at 0 degrees firmly (transport position). This is understood not my son, it is also a bit too tight. The Feststellstuetzen and adjustable planing front we have not actually used; but is good that you can. In the seat can reinsetzen a Duplomaennchen loose. Even the very long and multi-unit arm can be festhaken in transport position. My son is coming along well.
The material is solid plastic; we have both been successfully used at home as well in the sandbox. Despite the many joints and therefore potential breaking points of the excavator is very robust; some will probably endure. The use in the sandbox I find the best and I think the excavators for sand box capable - albeit erwartungsgemaess not as good as the small shovel loaders, which are otherwise often sees. With "erwartungsgemaess" I mean, in many joints sand is more dangerous; I do not expect here that such a toy in the sand lasts forever. The excavators makes in the sand, however, surprisingly well (during our approximately one-month test phase). I think that one long time to come of it. I give 4/5 points to stability - if the excavator has four to five years, it's good. Whether he still works after that, you will see.
The price I do not covered; However, it is not short of money. For that you get a solid toy that was designed lovingly to "practical" use and also keeps this promise: it is a very good toy that still remained hardly a day unnoticed since acquisition. Who (? Son) is looking for an a great toy for his child, rather than looking at the price, has my warm recommendation.
Once again in brief: Papa finds the excavators and great son is excited. Our expectations are fully met; therefore "very good" from me.
