I want to counter the positive reviews about beating the other hand here hold a little. Certainly many buyers have been waiting for a good wide-angle lens in this price range, I agree with him. It is also clear that you can not begin to find a comparable good super wide angle for currently 279 euros on the market. Therefore strong buy recommendation. I think the positive properties (light weight, image stabilizer, video quality) were mentioned here already extensively. Again, I agree. Yet I see a direct comparison to the Canon 10-22mm - I have both tested in parallel with my 70D - recognizable differences. The two at my disposal the 10-22mm lenses with respect to the processing, haptics, light intensity, sharpness and overall image quality, the nose was clearly ahead. In 10mm range both are still on a comparable level. With increasing focal length, however, the 10-18mm loses. I also find the photos of 10-18mm as somehow "flat" and undynamic. In this respect, I would as an ambitious amateur photographer the 10-22mm anytime prefer and pay the higher price in a matching purse. Or wait for the 10-22mm slips in the near future under the 500 Euro mark.
My personal conclusion: If you want to spend no more than 300 euros for a super wide-angle, looking a light lens and the lens used for the video application, is certainly well served with the 10-18mm. Better in my opinion is the 10-22mm.
