The TZ31 not only offers 20x zoom; you can (supposedly without loss of quality) increase this by a further adjustment to 40x. Then you can adjust the digital zoom with additional 40x then what then, however, comes at the expense of image quality! But 80-fold zoom, on a tripod, that has something special.
The zoom is working properly; the results can be seen with freehand image stabilizer. Images taken from 0 Zoom, 20x zoom and 40x zoom respectively "freehand" I have set up - for information.
The camera settings are very diverse. Class I find the individually programmable programs (P, C1 and C2). But even the standard programs such as scene mode and Intelligent Automatic are ideal eg for snapshots, or people who do not want big set etc. apart with Aperture.
Regarding the image quality to my old camera, Canon SX200, I can see with the naked eye, no significant improvements. These camera offers settings that I have to try in detail yet, but are very diverse (Super Slow Motion, HDR, Night, Panorama, 3D, etc. Very good is also the automatic Gegenlichkorrektur.
The ability to make continuous shooting is also absolutely brilliant, especially in the macro range, if you want to photograph a bee on the flower example. It simply makes 10 or 20 pictures and then look for the out, on which the object is best taken.
What I's criticisms is that no file folders by month, number of photos, etc. can be created on the SD card. What theoretically a disadvantage, however.
Significant for me then know that the flash is designed a little weak. That is very unfortunate, and certainly deserves this assessment narrow; yet I let my review at 5 stars because I can say that the camera like it very much!
All in all meets the camera for all their leisure and holiday purposes clippers absolutely disappears in your pocket, and when you need them, making you a few snapshots. In addition, you can use a very ordinary Zoom.
Conclusion After several days of testing:
+ Pocket fit,
+ Super Snapshot Automatic,
+ Very quickly ready to shoot,

+ GPS - who needs it; I rather less, for people on a larger Travel certainly a worthwhile feature,
+ Nor infinite possibilities, who needs more details should be loaded onto the Page of Panasonic the manual; because everything can be read again.
Disadvantages:
- The Order of pictures and movies on the SD card is predetermined and can not be changed.
- The flash could be a little stronger; also the option to set it slightly lighter I lack.
