On the new album "Whispers" I was very happy. After a bit more experimental "Where Do You Go To Disappear" (the influence of Helgi Jónsson, meanwhile Discos husband was most audible here) provides the Danish musician here a very minimalist and acoustic held from work. It has at times almost feel like listening to a concert recording, so "raw" the songs were recorded.
In my opinion, this is Tina's least accessible album since "Notes" are missing earwigs à la Warm Sand, Head Shop, Count To Ten, Goldhawk Road, Copenhagen or True North. Since Tina Dico but never was a star who has built success on the radio, that does not detract from the album, on the contrary. It has become a very intimate album, which you have to pay really intense. Matching the cold temperatures the middle of summer requires "Whispers" by a gray Saturday afternoon at home, then the many layers of Dicos music unfold best.
Musical highlights after the first few rounds are for me unique "Someone You Love", "Old Friends", "Mines" and "Woman Downstairs".
Are there any criticisms? Maybe. With ten titles, the album has got very short. This can be seen not as the song order coherent and album acts completely and complete, but who would not have liked to have had five or ten minutes additional music?
Five of the ten songs are also written for this album, but for the Danish-Swedish film "En you elsker" (sung by Mikael Persbrandt there and some time available in these recordings) and it shows the lyrics to. It's always about the complicated love a complicated man to his wives and his environment that are not slow the texts that you would expect from Tina Dico, which usually has a very autobiographical writing style. However, if you consider that the last studio album is not yet two years old, and Helgi and Tina are during these two years again become parents and got married to each other, then the brevity of the album and the little 'recycling' quite forgivable. Despite the family fortune swings in this album with a good dose of melancholy, who most Dico Albums awarded so far.
Who is Tina Dico fan, is on this album have a lot of fun, because it is quite linked to the very early recordings of the artist. Who still does not have a CD of the artist, but are to acoustic music, the guitar and singing in the foreground, liked, is also very enjoy this disc. Who likes to go beyond concerts without dancers, video screens and half playback, necessarily should try to get a ticket for one of their concerts.
