This LCD display is used in my self-built internet radio, I connected it to the Raspberry Pi. It lights up great blue with white letters and is a real eye-catcher. For the contrast voltage a 10K ohm potentiometer is required; this is connected to pin 3 to GND. The display can also be operated in 4-bit mode, saves 4 pins. Perfectly compatible with HD44780 controller. Important: If the display on the Raspberry Pi is to be operated, the R \ W Connection of the display (Pin 5) to pin 1 (GND) must be placed. Just a 220 ohm place for the display illumination to current limiting resistor at pin 16 to GND and pin 15 with pin 2 (5V) connect, never operate without resistance, otherwise the LED will burn out. Overall, a great display, the price is unbeatable going, me a few buy them.
