For a lover like me of Japanese culture, the book is very readable, and very often puts appetite. But it also proves very frustrating in parallel: it must firstly a parallel cookbook, and secondly we must get to procure the ingredients described (and in the provinces, it is not easy for many 'between them).
Overall I have mixed feelings: although very nice to read / skim, is a very useful book, especially because of the frustration it brings?
