Very reasonable router - even with Print Server support!

The print server support, however, was not implemented in the present firmware, so I only had to perform a firmware update.
Simply go to the Edimax page and download the firmware v2.12 and install there. Automatically switches the function on the router.

However, it not enough to simply connect the printer via USB to the Edimax.
Here you have to make a few adjustments yet. I write for a quick what I did,
as well as in the manual at the moment there was nothing to find it.

Print Server function on XP machine:

1. The printer should already be installed on the PC to be used or its driver.

Make 3. WLAN logon to Edimax
4. Connect the printer via USB printer cable to the Edimax, turn on printer
5. On the "Printers and Faxes" (Control Panel), click there the desired printer with the right mouse button "Properties"
6. On the third tab "Connections" the hook of "bi-directional support" remove "Add" button
7. Select the "Standard TCP / IP Port" and "new connection".
8. This opens a new window: there "continue"
9. "Printer Name or IP address" I "192.168.2.1" so entered with me was the IP address of the router
10. In Port Name then: "IP_192.168.2.1" Enter then
11. Choose "Custom Settings" and then again change the settings
12. Click on the TCP / IP "LPR" and write in the printer named "lpt1"
13. Then continue and finish

I have several computers directly connected, inter alia, also computers with Vista to the Edimax print server.

I would love to connect a UMTS stick to the router. But there is only one USB port, so I will test times, there to connect a USB HUB to operate printers and UMTS simultaneously. Whether it will work, I do not know. Possibly then I report on my efforts.

So far, I am certainly very pleased with the Edimax router as a print server!

**** UPDATE: I (without their own power supply) connected to the Edimax today a non- powered USB hub. In this the printer and the UMTS stick plugged. Works both properly !!
