The Toshiba 42Z has a number of advantages and a few disadvantages, but not serious in my case (for others may not be the case).
+ Full HD resolution and therefore future proof
+ Good black level (comparison in electronics markets are useless !!)
+ 100 Hz and therefore no jerking
+ Full 1080p 24p support without jerking with appropriate HDMI source
+ Beautiful design
+ Stable base
+ Very good sound with many setting possibilities
+ Very good scaling and image enhancement functions
+ The built-in DVB-T tuner provides me with no antenna (!) A really good picture (of course I live in a perfectly-served area)
+ Also analog picture is still good
+ DVDs (upscaling) and HD DVDs via HDMI and see themselves on Scart from brilliant.
- No off. Has been criticized by others. But is not so bad, when switching is an audible clunk heard, indicating a relay. Thus, the LCD has really given the consumption value less than one watt, which is better even if you previously turned on a switchable power strip that attracts even juice.
- No settings for each input. Annoying, but also to get over because I've connected only one HDMI source. In the future, more and more HDMI devices are to bring their own settings, so this hardly arises.
- Some auto settings should be disabled. Auto format is not really good and Active Backlight Control led me to a hum. Otherwise you should change the factory settings easily (color down a bit, brightness down)
o The remote criticized I find perfectly normal, but not very good.
A word on the Order: I have ordered from Amazon and do not regret that. No advance payment or cash on delivery, but debit after delivery. Knowing that Amazon converts or redeems without a murmur, was worth about 40 euros more. The forwarding supplies to the apartment!
Price / performance is the 42Z very good, I would buy it again at any time and can only recommend it.
