With the quality I am very satisfied, one should mention that mortar and pestle area are not worn smooth, but only smoothed (product description!) Were. A few minutes vigorous empty grinding is sufficient to grind the contact surfaces of pestle and mortar surface halfway smoothly and to resolve the "problem" of the initial abrasion. Here again a thank you to my Vorrezensenten who drew attention.
I have long ground empty until every relevant contact point was really down once "cut". The stone dust can then blow out, or wash, a feeling sample is then again certainty. Although some people claimed that one should only work with oil in granite mortars because of wear anyway, but I can not confirm that. I state that I have no abrasion in use.
By the way:
The nuts and bolts to prevent abrasion, is a general avoidance of Mörserfläche- and plunger contact: the spice must always be in between. Therefore, the empty grinding so punctual increases be eliminated, with the aim to create the smoothest possible friction. Selective increases would produce from the outset abrasion because of enormous pressure on very small areas acts -> suboptimal.
Hard and / or unfavorably shaped spices like pepper until pound (but please not too tight, so Stein comes across stone, because the plunger has dead weight) and then grind the crushed quiet. Somehow not with as much force and violence rumrühren in a mortar. So you can avoid abrasion reliable. :)
"What information would you have expected before you bought the product?"
that would have the provider one probably everything. somehow able to write, but there is nothing that goes beyond common sense and even less concerning the mortar itself, but rather the right use of it, it should not be included in the assessment. Is certainly mortar manuals for all large mortar use competence: D
huh, has become long ...: P
PS: again clearly: my mortar use competence enstammt (my) and brain (my) empiricism, so no warranty and no guarantee. But works very well for me. ;)
