Volume is such a criterion. No Problem. The power supply is the quietest part of my PC.
Price is also a criterion. But since it is already difficult. How much you get for your money? Seasonic is commissioned ago Adapters for other OEMs (such as Corsair). But you read the reviews of S12II series on Anandtec through, is really noticed here that the OEMs seem quite to have an impact on the qualitative sputum.
Anyone interested in the details, which I would "Seasonic S12 Silence" recommend as a search term on the mentioned page. There are reviewed at this point the power supplies up to 500 Watt. I relied on it that this power supply to some extent adheres to the specs mentioned therein.
For me it was a reason to buy, use "solid" (no electrolyte) capacitors in the power supply. In the past there have been increasing problems with umgelabelten electrolytic capacitors, leading to failure, because the specs were not complied with (heat resistance, circuit resistance).
This does not reflect any that the "new capacitors" these problems will not show, but I just hope that a company that the problem is aware of a functioning inspection of incoming goods has.
This power supply features a modular cabling system One can poke as many cables as you need, unused cables are not useless in the case of rum (which now offer many and is really handy). Please check before buying at the homepage of Seasonic if enough connections are available (above all, who has more than one graphics card in your system). Who does not need is a cheaper version of the same type ...
Bronze Rating: This is the energy rating. So the efficiency of the power supply under various load scenarios. The worse the efficiency, the more heat is released in the power supply and the more has to be dissipated to the outside (ventilation volume!). The difference between "Bronze" and "gold" is less than 10 percentage points (50% load).
Ie who loaded his 520-watt power supply to 50% = 260W, is (very roughly and strongly rounded) in bronze about 42W loss (15%) "out blow", in "silver" 29W (11%), "Gold" about 20W (8%) and platinum 16W (6%).
This applies only to 50% nominal load, but you can (otherwise it here a giant calculation is) rough estimate, if it's worth paying extra one. From the electricity bill ago it seems to be a clear statement yes. Who is sensitive when noise, should rather resort to "Silver". The step in my opinion is not worth platinum).
Last but not least: It is good practice to the data sheet, as the power is distributed to the individual "Rails". If the graphics card needs 20A at 12V and the motherboard again 5A at full load, must be set to the 12V branch at least 25A available. Even if the maximum power has not yet been exceeded.
Typically, the problem occurs only when installing a second graphics card to the higher performance class.
Should this text have been somehow useful, I would appreciate a positive rating.
