My expectations for a camcorder is easy and intuitive to use, good image quality (I do not search with a magnifying glass to blur!) And easy playback control on TV or computer. In addition, I read rather reluctantly only one page long manual ... then I try everything rather like this until I find it!
All of this complies with the Legria HF R506 (especially since I already knew the Canon own menu navigation points from its predecessor).
The push was the one that has struck me positively on this unit. It has been further improved. A Zoom playing children etc. Situations where you do not "notice" would as a filmmaker, is prima possible. Fine hairs on the clothing could be zoomed smoothly.
Very pleasing is the abdimmbare display, which allows you to film on events without affecting other.
Visually merely the "paint" a bit has changed, because, unfortunately, he is no longer so "glitzerig" (ie less sensitive to fingerprints).
By now I've gotten used to the menu of Canon. The R506 is not as intuitive as I'm used to from other camcorders, but with a little technique mind all the features you want for more or less a long search to find.
The different modes (eg Sport mode, fireworks etc) are chosen quickly so you can get his films directly or "professional" look. Funny, but perhaps not absolutely necessary for each the opportunity is on the touch screen to "paint" (lines, "Special Effects" such as asterisks insert etc). Otherwise, it can be said that it is easy to operate, but also fingerprints are clearly visible to the touchscreen. But that's a problem all Touchscreens.Die operation however is good and he is very responsive.
Whether the baby mode is really useful, I can not say. That's too much gimmick (the possibility there was the predecessor the way too!). I sort my files directly on the computer.
Again (as with most camcorders) are left-handed at a disadvantage, because the buttons clearly right-handed
are designed. So there is about the right of the Record button (attached) battery so that a left-handed should have relatively large hands, if he wants to put around it relaxing, but it can already be difficult with the view of the display policy. Not even to speak of the zoom, since you must to hold the camera comfortably access from below, the zoom switch is mounted, however, on top of the action.
I particularly like that you can turn off the camcorder, despite the open display and also that it automatically turns off after a while. Since there then !! any unpleasant surprises with used batteries Conversely, that is, of course, that he is ready to work, after opening (slider) and the display opened the damper, the camcorder is rapidly "ready to fire". So you can still get some spontaneous situations yet!
Basically, I would recommend the Canon Legria again for experienced amateur filmmakers. "Playful" filmmakers are the possibilities for the creative editing their joy. Personally, I use such "special effects" rather rare, so for me that is not a real strength of the camcorder.
Here again briefly: Good zoom, fits comfortably in your hand is (if you are right-handed!) And is quick and easy to carry due to its compact shape and not be too heavy and too quick to deploy. Personally I like well. Deduction there only because of the fingerprint-attracting housing and the deterioration of links filmmakers.
