Difficult to simply present the complex issue of validation or refutation of the latest theories about the unification of Modern Physics. Is it a translation problem or desire to "remember everything" to maintain objectivity clearly claimed in the preamble? Exciting reading in all cases for one / one who is willing to "hang" ... The dynamics of the considerable progress made since the beginning of the 20th century in this area seems "out" for thirty years despite the huge financial efforts and talent invested in the search for a unifying theory of physics. To make it short and simple: the theoretical calling into question the author considers inevitable and to which the reader can only agree after careful reading, should be "backed" by a reaffirmation of scientific ethics which any researcher must theorist submit as well as the development of science working models "everyday" less subject to model "productivist" Anglo-Saxon dominant as Lee Smolin (whose experience and career development clearly show the ins and outs without amertulme or personal bitterness, which is not the least of its merits ...).
My opinion: this "small" somewhat difficult book asks the right questions and provides a very relevant bibliography and references for those who want to deepen the subject.
