The game has unmistakable similarities with GTA4. Rockstar Games has not only the city of Liberty City by a Wild West state cars by Niko Bellic and horses by John Marston replaced, but the game also designed beginner-friendly. The graphics looks more beautiful than in GTA4, at least in the cutscenes. Although my breaking in some tasks such as horses and cows herded rather annoying occurred, I still had to put up with it, because otherwise the story goes no further. Here I found some of these tasks much more pleasant than the far too many, mindless shootings. It was more fun to try out the Open World concept. I would frankly more responsive to simply explore only a fascinating and skillfully rendered world, all the time with creative tasks rather than the stupid Geballers. One of the coolest Western is for me anyway: The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance, is a showdown is fought by legal means, which is at least sometimes funny and clever you can move freely, who wants to is allowed to play poker, as a bounty hunter, treasure hunters, and more! are active - which I liked very well. The greatest strength of the game is for me anyway, the illusion of the Wild West to be. Rides in the moonlight or day alone in the desert, startling attacks by wild animals, rushing rivers, gorgeous landscapes, saloons, cinema with silent film and piano accompaniment and, and, and - this is really fascinating! The ability to play the game online, the humor (the naive use of opium as a tonic about) and the diversity of ideas are further plus points. Movies like High Noon or Game me the song of death have me though can captivate more than the story of the hero of RDR, John Marston, but it is very interesting to dive into the world of the game, more exciting than just sitting passively watching television.
The control was me sometimes to friemelig what may however have to do to lack of experience. Instead of getting used to the complicated roping horses I have thieves and robbers anyway rather stopped with the gun because it's much easier, especially thanks to the slow-motion function. Significantly better than in The Force Unleashed I found the control but in any case. The wireless controller will vibrate when the horse is bucking a nice gag. Interesting would be to switch to first-person view, but that does not, in contrast to GTA4, in which through the changes of perspective seemed the car trips more realistic. GOW3 and Modern Warfare 2 are graphically perhaps more impressive, but that makes the OpenWorld aspect all up for it.
The lack of German synchronization may be a drawback for some players, but the original English is very well done. Until the video game characters really look like real people, it will probably take some time, especially in the cutscenes is that clear.
Special praise deserved also music and sound effects. The media satire and the diverse music, which makes up a great charm in GTA4 is not reached by RDR, but when suddenly began singing a song with the first ride through Mexico - wow! I was very impressed!
Also nice: a ride just once as a stowaway on the train, or try to skin a coyote, only to subsequently determine that accidentally "skinning animals' own horse was meant and was killed wild game animal at a different location and you therefore first to must walk through the desert until the next horse is found. Or take too many drinks and then stagger through the saloon. Other tests of details that have installed the game developers were less convincing. Does it, for example impressed me in Modern Warfare 2 that precise bullet holes and the like for realism attended so it was quite sobering when RDR to cheer about on a cactus, there falls abundant artificial and always with the same animation a branch from that now looks really not genuine from! A nice graphics error that resembles the following: after the battle at the fort, in which you have one of the bandits shot off the coach to sit on, this remains suspended in the air - that was rather funny as an annoying bug. A case for the X-Files or Matrix Move.
Red Dead Redemption is a very convincing Wild West world anno 1911 in a fictional US state and the border region of Mexico. Always store again and do not play too long at a time, otherwise you will soon be as wide apart as Mr. Marston.
