Despite the phone for seniors is not the phone of choice. Why?
1.) The telephone does not ring loud enough and has only a small number of ring tones to choose from. Polyphonic ring tones are nice, much more important for seniors but are monophonic, haunting and gladly also intrusive ringtones, but from such a ring tone, the phone has not a single. It may be that you somehow from somewhere might download ringtones, but what can the Senior and why are not included from the outset 50 ringtones, but only 10, and it already 5 as musical sound (polyphonic)?
2.) The font size when receiving and writing text is too small and can not be changed. This is a knock-out criterion.
3.) The menu control is not well done, because it is indeed designed with navigation keys in the 4 cardinal points, but the key for the right-arrow key and the left arrow button is always the button with the green and the red handset with whom one else builds Gespäche or completed - a very unfortunate combination. So you have to pay to use this key, which is completely illogical when writing an SMS for the movement of the cursor in the respective direction. Also there is no central OK button to confirm entries. Instead, you must always pay attention to the bottom of the display to lowercase text, which signals the availability of two keys on top of the keyboard to the left and right of this. These two buttons are labeled but with a Frauenkopf- and a man's head symbol and are otherwise occupied, each with a fixed number for the speed dial - again a very unglücklliche combination.
4.) The background image is mandatory as photo (5 motifs are available) specified, the readability of the displayed time and date, respectively in white letters, but suffers greatly. Unfortunately, it is the screen does not just turn black and the font size and color of the time and date are not changeable.
5.) Constantly comes with this phone while handling the finger on a button on the left side of the phone, which calls the 5 alarm times on the display. This is very disturbing and is also unfortunate choice.
6.) The earpiece volume is for ordinary people in order, but for seniors it is not enough. Whether the speaker is suitable for hearing aids, I do not know.
7) Entering details in the telephone directory of the phone is totally inconvenient and not self-explanatory. I'll spare me a more detailed explanation of the problem - who has tried it once in this phone knows what I mean.
The phone also has some good features, the best of these is the torch function. The good features are unfortunately outweighed by the negative characteristics.
As a senior mobile phone do you rate this Alcatel OT 536 with 2 stars, as a normal single phone, it would be good for 3 to 4 star. Those looking for a senior cell phone, should rather resort to a clamshell or Doro Swissvoice. Although the are not perfect, but much better conceptualized.
