On the day of my appointment, the Nokia Lumia 620 was announced for Q1 2013 but I have no desire to push constantly buying ahead of me, and therefore ordered the 8S. Before, I was traveling with Palm Pixi (WebOS) and HTC Trophy 7, so I knew what my operating system default expected.
For the most mentioned shortcoming, the memory: After installing almost all my usual and regularly used apps and the NRW Bing maps I have ~ 300 MB free. Data, music and photos in cloud / memory card. So that, I get pretty much.
The trouble is that it Microsoft and some developers did not yet managed to develop versions of their WP8 apps. It was always said that the Apps of WP7.5 are compatible (the best example: Whatt's app announced for weeks, still not available.). These apps simply do not appear in the Windows Store. The simple use of podcasts about Zune is no longer possible, the new Windows 8 app does not care about podcasts, diving in the Windows Store for German users generally no podcasts to (it is in fact described in the Help, with mentioned "regional restrictions ") and you have to try ne Fremdapp on the phone here again.
For whom is the 8S is?
- Competitively priced smartphone with great, easy-to-use operating system
- For quick research on the go, every now and then short navigation with maps app (for me the basic functions ranging from completely, Speech also made me always annoyed maps is loaded via UMTS)
- Little require expensive apps (games, Navi, etc.), listen to some music (the included headset with "Beats Audio" feature actually sound somewhat pleasantly)
- Battery life is not permanent use could amount to about 2 days, depends on me but habitually overnight on cable.
Otherwise, Windows Phone 8 is still not perfect, because update Technically really must do still some. The problems with the screen brightness does not bother me, I had always run my smartphone on the lowest brightness. But probably. comes because someday a firmware update.
If you're looking a bit more memory and good complete Navi, then have to wait up to the Nokia 620. Who still good cameras and necessarily the front camera for Skype needs, then stay for the big flagships HTC 8X and Lumia 920, more than twice the cost, however, and are nothing for little hands and pockets. (Ships up.)
4 stars, because if you know what you'd expect for the money, thereby knows its own distinct needs, which gets a chic satisfactory phone.
