After I but the hype surrounding Castlevania, and its large fan base, has always been aware, of course I could not say no to the free demo available on my 3DS. My 3DS (XL) was long gone and used a thick layer of dust had already formed on it. Then everything happened fairly quickly. The demo liked. Lords of Shadow (PS3) has been rescheduled. Mirror of Fate was downloaded. And now I sit here and I want to tell the world: The game is great!
The graphics are top. For a handheld course. But it affects all voices and all of a piece. The 3D effect is fantastic. Often objects protrude out of the screen and not infrequently I winced to get not the whip in the face.
The sound is great. Orchestral sounds accompany the action at all times consistent and contribute to the creepy atmosphere.
The controller has a good grip. You must at all times have full control of what is happening on the screen.
The combat system is motivating. As with Lords of Shadow, it is absolutely essential to master the various techniques of attack and block. Mere "Buttonmashing" does not help.
The story is gripping. A dark vampire tale, quite apart from modern "Twilight romance".
"Mirror of Fate" is probably one of the first handheld games that let me forget that there is one at all. For moving the dark story. Too much I'm lost in the medieval world. Too often I try out different fighting techniques acquired on new opponents. And easily I let tempt me to explore the sprawling castle off the obvious ways to discover hidden secrets.
Long-term Castlevania fans may see much else, and forgive me desswegen. I as a "Castle-Newbie" Spending jumped on the train wherever like to go the journey. I now love the series. And my 3DS me again.
