The old debate which is better, spherical or elliptical? Prefer not to continue here and there can not quite understand it. Most of the time but always spoken of any theoretical values and there are technical discussions conducted in which some people think they need to turn their head teacher ...
The only thing that is certain for me, but the sound affects only conditionally, the spherical needles is the plates wear out less. So it makes up for years noticeable sound throughout your treasures.
So I'd rather lose the theoretically better sound the elliptical needles and have long years of pleasure from my plates.
The Ortofon Concorde anyway I can find no tonal loss! On the contrary, great sound and, the Pro from 18,000 is a little quieter the sound comes more benefits. It all sounds warm and round, not so intrusive in the heights as some other systems such as the Night Club.
Many systems also quality that have better data at first glance, so at 0dB still 20,000 just sound too shrill and aggressive. More is not always better!
Otherwise, super quality, as might be expected from Ortofon.
I speak from the ENTIRE purchase recommendation! Whether for the DJ or just at home listening to music. And always remember, spherical welcomes plates conserve!
