First volume of the adventures of Fitz, one of the most successful figures in fantasy literature. Robin Hobb takes us into a medieval world where there is a form of original magic. The fantastic elements are used with subtlety and it is not a matter of great struggle between good and evil or any powerful heroes. This is a very well written story of initiation, in the first person, with complex and endearing characters that evolve in credible situations. Despite the introspective side, the action is well done and the author takes his readers in suspense throughout his two trilogies (between which the conscientious reader will read "adventurers sea / Liveship saga" to respect the timeline). These novels are suitable to both fans and newcomers of the genre of fantasy literature and will keep you awake all night. Beware though, the story is dark and is not intended for a younger audience.
