And there's "City of Ashes". I'm glad that I finally "made it" the book.
Content:
Actually, I could play the contents of the entire book in 2 sets, but would ruin the specific findings reading fun.
Jace meets his father again, which makes him a tempting offer, if this is on his side.
Between Clary and Simon it gets really emotional, this part I especially liked. Unfortunately, this relationship does not remain permanently, because something happened to Simon, making him forever changed, but makes him no less gracious.
And of course the forbidden passion between Clary and Jace remains an issue.
Characters:
Unlike the first volume, I found the characters in this described somewhat flat. ALAC and Isabelle suddenly have no more character traits, just as Luke.
Opinion for action:
I found the storyline often foreseeable. Sure, there were some unexpected turns, but they were never so that I could cheer. What the act ran so thick was the very detailed descriptive writing style, the change of perspective between up to 3 action scenes (which also was also a bit confusing) and the repeat of obviously important (or not so important) content.
What also very bothered me was that the secrets were not cleared, which are open as early as the first part.
What is all secretive about Clary and Jace? And when it is finally cleared up?
The book gets from me only 3 stars because I was partly really annoyed by the detailed descriptions.
[Spoiler: for the first time as the Inquisitor said the male name, was already clear to me that it was probably caused by her son / husband and that this was probably killed by Valentine. Therefore one must not do mysterious and bring it up 5 times, until it is finally "released".}
