Wii Motion Plus Plus Plus

PlayStation Move Starter Pack with Multi demo disc (accessory)

Customer Review

Since the Starter Bundle basically only is indeed a bundle of necessary hardware, I go with my review mainly on a what you would expect in general of Playstation Move and how Move is different from the competition motion controls.

The Move Playstation Hardware consists of two components: the PlayStation Eye camera and the motion controller.

The Motion Controller can be due to the diverse contained sensors quite aptly describe as "Wii Remote + Wii Motion Plus + X": It has an accelerometer like the Wii Remote, also a gyroscope as one motion takes Plus attachment in Wii, and in addition even a magnetic field sensor.
Considered in itself alone, therefore, the Motion Controller the same motion-sensing abilities as a Wii Remote with Motion Plus attachment - would call through the magnetic field sensor but ultimately even more, which is why I, considered the motion controller as a "Wii Motion Plus Plus". Cute little advantages in contrast to the Wii Remote is the way that the Motion Controller is powered by an integrated rechargeable battery instead of using on batteries, better in the hand and the buttons are more accessible.

The PlayStation Eye camera on the other side can be aptly described as "improved EyeToy" describe. Even this camera alone therefore allows any game concepts that were possible on the Playstation 2 with the EyeToy: Augmented Reality games, dance, sports and fitness games, etc. In contrast to the previous EyeToy the Playstation Eye, however, has also microphones, so that basically things like voice control, video chat without additional headset / microphone, musical comedies, etc. would be no problem in theory.

The reason why Move two technologies necessarily united, which have nothing to do at first glance, so together (EyeToy and Wii Remote), the glowing ball at the front end of the motion controller:
Through him, the camera can determine the exact position of the motion controller in the room. This ensures that Move is again accurate and thus virtually to "Wii Motion Plus Plus Plus" is. So if you want to run for example its own players to the right, left, forward or backward in a table tennis match, then you have to just simply even to the right, left, move forward or back - that makes the whole thing much more realistic than, for example Table tennis on the Wii.

The motion controllers of different consoles in comparison:
The PS3 with Move is clearly superior to the Wii in technical terms. Move can do everything a Wii with Wii MotionPlus attachment can, but it is even more so. The control is by the way also for that reason much more precisely than with Wii games, because the Wii MotionPlus attachment which increases the precision of the Wii Remote clear is supported by almost any Wii game ever - it is simply spread too little. Since the gyroscope with Move, however, was incorporated from the outset and therefore is always present, the game makers to use it by default. The other big advantage is of course the performance of the PS3: Between the table tennis game of "Sports Champions" and the lie of Wii Sports Resort worlds when it comes to graphics. And the feeling is actually a totally different - I like Wii Sports Resort table tennis like, but after playing Sports Champions Table Tennis, I must say that WSR table tennis in comparison just yet is little more than fidgeting and it almost for the right impact moment arrives.

Microsoft provides with "Kinect" soon indeed also a motion controller for the Xbox 360 on. This is often compared with the EyeToy - ie the predecessor of the camera, which is also contained in Move. And not without reason, because if you available for the launch games look at one sees striking similarities to the games that are then published for the EyeToy: almost exclusively dance, sport and fitness games and minigames collections. The integrated TOF camera Kinect, although in fact technically efficient than EyeToy - but the evidence that Kinect allows a significant number of good novel game concepts that would absolutely not possible with an EyeToy camera, is still pending. From the technical possibilities ago Move can therefore almost everything Kinect also can - inclusive gesture and voice control. Despite the much lower price move is significantly more versatile as you move even in games that can not fall into the "casual games" category use a lot of sense: Wherever a mouse would be practical (eg the goals in a shooter, what with the analog stick the controller with games consoles always a spasm), and the Move controller is practical. The fact that the games do not have to be done in a standing position and will require less physical exertion Move just make it appear much more attractive for core gamers than Kinect.

All in all, Move clearly the most versatile and the greatest potential bidder motion control; the issue of "potential" but let me now turn finally to a distinct disadvantage of Move:
For today's launch, unfortunately, very few games are available, and most of them are not particularly great. By far the most likely to be Sports Champions - even that loses in my opinion but the comparison with Wii Sports Resort. The sports which is also available in Wii Sports Resort are in Sports Champions While way better and more realistic than in Wii Sports Resort, but since there are only six disciplines WSR provides significantly more easily. The "EyeToy capabilities" are almost never used by the games available so far, only "Start the Party" and "EyePet Move Edition" use a little augmented reality and thus something that would not be possible in principle also with a Wii.

In short, the technology itself has huge potential for the launch, however there are few really strong games. As long as there are not more games, the Wii is therefore solely due to the large variety of games, the best console for bewegungssensitve games. When in doubt, so you should maybe wait a little longer to appear have games with Move support as Killzone 3 to more Must. With just 57 euros for the Starter Bundle it does no harm however, now already to get the hardware. Who has the Playstation Eye already, which, incidentally, satisfies the motion controller alone - who does not even cost 40 euros, and on the Starter Bundle accompanying demo disc are anyway only games on it, which you can download for free via PSN as well. Even the navigation controller you can save once quiet because instead of the navigation controller you can always just use the normal PS3 controller.
