- Super Overdrive: I can not help, but I do not know why they place this song Bleeding Me Insane (Exclusive bonus track on the 'Scream' Single - reason alone to buy this absolutely!) Have taken as an opener to the album - I think that's really better, seems somehow 'mature'. But maybe it was just too dark and you wanted the trendy Punk proportion still screw something up.
The reef in the verse is something stupid me casually un (to), but the chorus makes up for a lot - and after all, in this song the only typical 'Stevens effect' hearing, although no 'Raygun-Effect' but after all, a murder moderate workout the whammy bar :-)
- World Comin 'Down: The album was supposed to be so named for this song - before then took the first text line of Super Overdrive as the title. Again very 'oldschool' punky - but if not Billy Idol has every right to make punk music, then who?!?! Again, I like the chorus better than the verse.
- Rat Race: Certainly one of the favorites of this album. It dissolves times almost entirely of his 'Roots' and sounds very new and up to date without even begin abzukupfern anything or not to sound like Billy Idol. Outstanding chord progression in the stanza. And these plucked guitar - heavenly! It also interferes with further not know that this song does not have time guitar solo. Pure Power!
- Sherri: Klas Sure 80s song. Strong Popanteil. Very catchy. Gets better with each listen.
- Plastic Jesus: At first I thought: "What's that?!?!" - But I have to say, now one of my favorite tracks on the disc (at least of the quieter). Is really totally cool, you can sing so nice, because it's so catchy, (again) beautiful chorus routinised solo - and the text funny with a wink! Good choice for the covers.
- Scream: There is no question why the song was chosen as the first single - the 'cliché' Billy Idol song on the album par excellence. One could chalk up again that there is a 1: 1 imitation of Rebel Yell and Speed - but that's a good thing! And the video is exactly like the old days - the guys still look as fresh as 20 years ago. Keep it up - make me scream - all night long !!!
- Yelling At The Xmas Tree: Certainly a very 'season-dependent' song. May not necessarily think to hear that on the stand in midsummer me. But musically flawless - and funny ("Santa's balls are Jinglin '...")! It has now just finally a Billy Idol song that you can hang up the Christmas celebrations with the family :-)
- Romeo's Waiting: This song is beautiful 80s moderately therefore (I'd like it so soon not say, but the verse totally reminds me of '99 Luftballons'). Only me this has from 1/2-stroke chord change Bridge disturbed that sounds as if it was similar 100% for any song by Sum41 'Stolen' - does not fit to my taste in there necessarily. But you get used to it - and then rocking the song fully. Soulful vocals. Powerful guitar interjections.
- Body Snatcher: Definitely one of my favorites on the album. When I heard the singing in the chorus for the first time, I thought I cut a gum chewing there with a chainsaw from the soft tissues. ;-)
More energy can not pack in a voice !!! (When I think of this Metal-soprano whining or power grunts - ridiculous!)
So I like my Billy - full pipe forward. And Steve torments so beautiful guitar. Uncompromisingly good.
- Evil Eye: A slightly slower piece, casual singing - but it is not with less energy. Very good guitar solo.
- Lady Do Or Die: Well, here are the ghosts. Could imagine that people who are not on country music, do not like the song. Once had a demo of Billy & Steve from 1999 is one that sounded quite similar, I do not really even liked better: 'Faded Love'. Unfortunately then came indeed the problems with the former record company - and we'll get the song unfortunately never heard. Fits definitely good to Billy's voice.
- Cherie: he has written for his then girlfriend and mother of his son, Perri Lister (willing to bet that the song originally was called Perri!) The song Beautifully soft, with acoustic guitar. Completes the program.
- Summer Running: For my taste, the word 'Motorcylce' once too often happens ;-) - but hey - that's Billy's great passion, why should he not bring in a song to express. Otherwise, a great favorite, a little quieter with 'outgoing' midsection (a la 'Eyes Without A Face'). One notices in any case the influence of Steve in this piece (Classical acoustic guitar), was determined by the two at Steve composed / programmed / recorded in his home studio.
A beautiful song for self-discovery / inner peace!
The only thing there is to complain about when the album is that it was unfortunately very out mastering the limits of euphony (and even a little beyond!). In other words, it has been compressed over-completely and maximized. Among forwards strongly the dynamics - and even worse: It comes in loud passages even to overloading and distortion. It's a pity that the record company has carried away to take part in this, Loudness' madness.
Billy's music has something unnecessary!
But the music is rocking without restriction - necessarily buy !!!
