The technical implementation and production in high-resolution stereo and DTS 5.1 are beyond reproach and are for me State-Of-The-Art in 2014 - an absolute listening pleasure, whether through headphones or speakers, loud or soft (good hardware provided!).
The box is very good and stands out from the crowd, the trading cards and the quality booklet are a nice addition to the 2 discs. The cover is in my opinion very successful, and coincides with the included.
ALLERDINGS- I hate Pappschuber! Fingerprints on the sound / image carriers so not stay out, because unlike vinyl, they never slip well from these cases (in the pillory with the inventor - maybe a little developed so times Inner sleeves with slightly enlarged slipcases?).
And what about the music?
-The Assessment is over and falls to the individual tastes of the listener inclined !!!
And as so often (not only at PF) tempers column again as with every new release of an album.
Here there is nothing to polarisiern - THIS IS PINK FLOYD 2014! It's not Roger Waters and David Gilmour not, but the Spirit of a band who have spent countless hours with joint music sessions. Open and known for experiments and improvisations.
Combine parts of these sessions from many years and to connect on a global approach and a cast is high music art for me; yes I would even bezeichnen.Eine a masterstroke reminiscence of the remaining band members with 50 years of music history with a 53 minute long track, which should be as part of the piece.
No single extraction and no painful song of the missing men Waters / Gilmour / Barrett, but then a flowing and constantly changing stream is likely to be quiet "endless" for me!
Pink Floyd for me is not new, I know all the albums, have almost all and went with the band almost to school. To my first LP's ever counted the dark side of the moon and Wish You Were Here (since I was about 13 years old). My style of music was coined and the following albums accompanied me through decades, and will continue to do so - until now!
Similarly, I was able to witness some of the "bombastic performances" of the late 80's and "The Wall" live - unforgettable!
Technically always at the highest level and their time almost expected, modified PF repeatedly their musical style (as well every band that worked decades together or parted from members). However, this changed nothing most of the known elements of style, but was often the zeitgeist.
This changing zeitgeist and personal developments and experiences of the musicians are reflected in "The Endless River" in this mix again thoroughly. Passages reminiscent of previous albums, but without copying them but to extend them with new compositions and connect. That Roger Waters was not beteilgt in this production does not matter and is ultimately His own fault. At least I do not miss his contributions.
No recycled infusion and certainly no muzak but differentiated artwork with subtle nuances and colors, and not least a big stage, thanks to an excellent mixing and studio technology. As one reviewer mentioned here: You should learn to listen and not just consume again ...
Would it be classical music, one could also speak of program music. Similarly Smetana's "Moldau" or the "Pictures at an Exhibition" - well, maybe a little high side. Nevertheless, it is music that is doing well in today's troubled world and the self-representation. No verbal or tonal attacks on the ears, as it too often is unfortunately common in the modern music industry. There is (old or new) enter at any Band fans who say "Hey, that sounds not like xxx ..." Does that make it worse? Or what must have an album so that it can beat a previous? Are the Stones or the Stones? Or Depeche Mode, U2, Simple Minds etc ,. and where the Doors, Nirvana or Queen would be today?
"The Endless River": For me, a fitting conclusion to a band wrote the story and use their skills most up technology in their productions, combined with an arrangement that I as able feel and their complexity is reflected (and, as you can see, its militant character ).
That was Pink Floyd ...
- We look forward to a new David Gilmour and Roger Waters of possibly (if he wakes up from his depression ...)
