For safety, I make a rubber band around the casing, so that the battery cover might not even open accidentally. The ingenious Sanyo eneloops I had anyway, so this power bank for me provides the optimal price-performance ratio even for other applications.

The LED is a nice goodie, with a little experience, you can roughly estimate the battery level on the basis of luminosity.
