I had this bag for some time in the eye. At that time she was still regularly get for under 100 euros. Mitlerweile the price of a "Made in Taiwan" bag is yet grasped quite high.
My bag was an offer for 85 euros ... I could not resist.
The bag as such is an excellent workmanship and served its purpose. I use them on my trips when I watch birds. I always had problems mitzubekommen my camera, binoculars and field guides. A backpack I have, but the always necessary to remove only to come to the unit.
The Maxpedition hanging at your sides, and can be wonderfully pull and open to the front.
So I have my Nikon D90 with 18-105mm either lens in his pocket and the binoculars around his neck, or the other way around now.
I use a Nikon Action EX 10x50 Porro binoculars and fits perfectly into this bag (which has the same size 12x50). It can even use the binoculars pocket as a shock absorbing Inlet. It fits like made for it (see pictures).
In the zippered pocket behind the main compartment fits very well a field guide. And for the rest of the little things are also still enough places.
The zippers are sturdy and can be opened even with gloves well.
The only drawback, which is strikes me about the case (besides the price) that the lid is not completely covering the main compartment. But Sure, you can pull the dust inside, then you can not get so quickly to his stuff.
I can not understand why you can not build the lid 5 cm, then the problem would be solved.
When you walk, like me, a lot of scrub, one or the other branches accumulates so in the bag yet.
The bag keeps the rain very well off (Teflon coated). Only at the vacancies in addition to the main subject of course penetrates water. For me, a clear design flaw.
Nevertheless, this bag is my constant companion on my trips into nature.
Wen my do not disturb abovementioned shortcomings, which gets an excellent bag.
One star deduction due to small lid. The price I will not be included in my review.
Addendum 25 June 2013:
I have the pocket all the time when my excursions there and am still excited ...
I have from an old insulating a ticking for my camera and an interchangeable lens tinkered (5 minutes thing with Pattex), to better protect your camera from bumps and bruises.
So fit a D90 with attached Tamron 70-300mm and an additional 18-105mm in the main compartment of the bag.
