A book of exquisite finesse that tells the relationship between the author and his dog in Japan where he is professing of French literature. He explains the attitude of the Japanese toward dogs and his own, very different. He considers Melodie as an intelligent and very sensitive and be treated with extreme softness and delicacy. He commented on the attitude of French writers like Rousseau and Descartes to animals. It's a whole feast throughout this beautifully written book. Bravo and thank you
