All of the work is great: The language is beautiful, the characters are very strong (both the good ones and the bad), and despite all the fantasy elements somehow lifelike.
The story is complex, unusual, immensely exciting and full of great ideas. The very idea that every human being from birth to death by a demon - visible and in animal form - is accompanied, which is a reflection of his soul is great. Unlike other fantasy books I immediately had access to the world (or worlds) that describes Pullman. Even a talking polar bear in a suit of armor not seemed absurd, but entirely appropriate and necessary for the story.
Some have criticized Book 3 is worse than the first two. I can not find that. While it is not altogether so suspenseful, as switching between different storylines and locales. It is thoughtful and a little more philosophical than its predecessor, but no less entertaining and fascinating. For me, an absolutely worthy and successful conclusion.
I was totally depressed when I had reached the end of Volume 3 and envy anyone who has the reading ahead of them. A stunning reading experience !!
