I use this cable to my "Surface 2 Pro" with Windows 8.1 and my "MacBook Pro 15" Retina "with an AOC I2369VM 58.4 cm (23 inch) LED monitor (VGA, HDMI, 5ms response time) black-silver to connect. This works fine. Also, the restart of the device with a connected monitor does not cause problems.
