A Bluetooth connection is established only when an app accesses. So the cell phone alone Bluetooth to activate does not help, or shows Qstarz only an active BT connection if an app uses BT. A satellite connection will only be made if a BT or cable connection. (Which also makes sense)

The purchase reason for me was that I have a higher accuracy than the internal GPS. Because I need for geocaching better accuracy.
A first test has shown that a lot more points are recorded in the track, and each line is round while the internal phone-GPS only once every 3 seconds to write a point. So this machine will scan many points (1,5,10 per Sec) and is therefore designed for higher speeds.
For accuracy, I have not specifically may find something. However, I have had both the internal and the external GPS are ahead in the car on the wipers on a street without trees. So maybe optimal to heaven. Both have the same recorded accurately.
I still need to test how the behave when the reception conditions are difficult.
