As the caption says, I got the card into a PSP 2004 adapter in use. The adapter is a determined 4 years old China product and I worry that PSP would not recognize the card.

But that was not the case. Runs very fast, no matter what I do with it. Write with ~ 6 MBs via the miniUSB closing the PSP directly to the card.
