First impression:
The 4.3 inches of the display and its stylish monoblock polycarbonate housing make it together with the angular design to a very nice smartphone, which clearly stands out from the crowd of other devices. With its 160g, it leaves a powerfully-quality impression. The keys sit well in the case, but have minmales game.
Processing:
Perfectly. The Omnia 7 is already very nice to look at, because it consists almost entirely of metal. But the monoblock housing is truly a noble feast for the eyes. Even with pressure you do not get to the phone creak. Everything seemed very high.
Technology:
Despite outdated (on paper) technology the Lumia 900 runs absolutely smoothly. The battery lasts in normal use (incl. Games and videos) for 1 day. These figures were recorded also iPhone 4, Galaxy S3 and Omnia 7. The battery is therefore in good company.
Display:
Nearly every new mobile phone is now on AMOLED displays, as well as Nokia. And convince Again rich colors and a flawless black level. Compared to the Samsung Omnia 7, the display is a little darker - but it also reflects less, so it is even a bit easier to read. The resolution turns out in reality not as a flaw - Detail pictures look naturally beautiful on the S3.
Camera:
The 1MP front camera is available - in a bright environment makes them amazingly useful videos and images. In dark places, the quality tends to Pixelbrei.
The main camera shoots with 8 megapixels good images that can be used on PC. With large contrasts the images are often too dark - integrated in the camera function optimization software makes here subsequently remedy. The photos are acceptable in a dark room until just barely usable. The camera of the Galaxy S3 is generally better.
Speaker:
The speakers at the bottom of the device from delivering a good sound, the speaker for phone calls are likely to be a bit louder. The supplied headset is a bit uncomfortable, but also provides decent sound.
Nokia Extras:
Fully-fledged, free offline navigation, free streaming music in all flavors etc.
... I have not seen in any better WP7 exclusive apps.
Software and updates:
Windows Phone 7 is a self-contained system (analogous to the iOS from Apple) and runs very smooth and fluid. But above all it is extremely intuitive. The urge to throw it out of anger against the wall, I have never felt (Android devices there may prepare a lot more frustration by partial lack of intuitiveness). Of course at a disadvantage have individualists and technophiles, the settings are limited. The Marketplace includes over 100,000 apps. A big advantage of WP7 is flawless and lightning-fast voice control - oddly enough this feature was never actively promoted. S Voice of Samsung, however, is a (very slow) joke. The downloadable Zune software is still very useful to a missing backup function.
WP7 gets annoyingly not upgrade to WP8 - however, for technical reasons. Microsoft has therefore already announced plans to give developers tools in hand to allow easy integration of compatible apps on WP7. That developers will use this opportunity makes economic sense. Nokia has also announced to suppliers the Lumia series even after WP8 released continuously with innovations. This is laudable, but it overslept several Android manufacturers regularly to update their smartphones to the latest versions of the OS.
Conclusion:
The flagship of Nokia has succeeded in convincing with liquid and ease of use, as well as a distinctive, high-quality design. The camera delivers good pictures, the Nokia apps are thoughtful and useful. The full-fledged navigation device should inspire every motorist. 5/5
Addendum of 01:10:12:
I've noticed one thing that I find very unfortunate for the otherwise high-quality equipment: The LED key illumination at the bottom is uneven and dirty with many devices. This could have been definitely solved better. Disturb does indeed little.
Addendum 04:06:12:
Meanwhile my Lumia 900 is to own debt unfortunately defective or something splintery in use. Since it is a single component, in principle, and the display has jumped to an unfortunate event, it is an economic total loss. At least it was still working for data recovery and to follow cell phone.
Brief comparison with the Samsung Ativ S (my "new"): In handling any major differences detected, only the IE10 is much faster and the AppStore equipped with graphically impressive games. Otherwise a lot of cosmetics - the higher resolution is irrelevant in normal operation. Windows Phone has evolved, the switch worthwhile but only if anyway has ran a new phone.
