This is the first time I launched into the creation of a multimedia network for my apartment. The goal was to be able to read music and movies on my TV, tablet, PC, PS3 and smartphone from a single hard drive, wireless, from any room. After having coupled the Synology DS214 cable (not wireless) to a wifi router ac (Tp-link Archer D7), the test is transformed handily. Even better, thanks to the software suite offered for android systems, I'm used to control the DS214 since my tablet and I turn less (if at all) my PC launch and management of bittorrent downloads , file transfers from one device to another, direct reading (without encoding) of the media, etc ... some pressure on a tablet enough: a real treat. To top it all, ventilated case is very silent; I leave it without problem next to my stereo. About hifi: DS214 coupled to a USB DAC on the amplifier, all controlled from android tablet app Synology DS audio: it's just heaven.
