We are in a world that has some Steampunk characteristics but it will not be as marked as for the world as The Parasol Protectorate (random), I thought more God Save the Queen Kate Locke. As for the latter, there is a mixture between vampirism and steampunk, quite similar elsewhere.
The explanation is sometimes a bit confusing and difficult to follow here, but I think we still cling. The author distills its information and with each addition we understand a little better this world, original and fun.
Side plot was Honoria who fled with his brother and sister after the assassination of his father. She flees a Blue Blood, a nobleman, who can not stand this affront. Terrified but determined to save those she loves, she took refuge in Whitechapel, the notorious district of London. After months under the radar, the Prince of Whitechapel called to account. Troubled by this dangerous man but attractive, Honoria embarks on a dangerous part in order to protect its secrets.
Between political intrigue, romance, loyalty, family, betrayal and secrets, we get a really dense and rather dark novel. However, despite the complexity of the construction and sometimes confusing narrative, I really had a great time. I left completely transported by the story and I had a hard time picking. I wanted to see what would happen, what are the obstacles and how to come out Honoria.
So I recommend you with a warning, you will find it a little hard to follow at the start in the development of the universe.
