This is the beginning of a terrifying journey to the young man, forced to somehow get used to life miserable on board the schooner, persecution of the rest of the crew, to the sadistic tyranny of Captain, ice immensity of the waves around him sétendant Humphrey but survives. He fights. He learns. Day after day, he adapts a little to his new environment and becomes another stronger and more brave man. And day after day, his fascination grew to Wolf Larsen, this strange and contradictory man, hiding under a cruelty and cynicism of a virulent deep cracks. In lentrepont the martyred sailors booming. Tensions grow. The storm roared. Violence erupts. And this new journey of "Ghost" may well prove to be the last
"The wolf of the sea" is my first novel by Jack London and it will surely not be the last, but which book, my friends, what book! Jen'm still blown ... A publication of the novel, Jack London had announced his attention describe a "total novel" and its effort sest resulted in an undoubted success: thrilling tale of adventure, "wolves of the sea" is also a wonderful novel psychological and social, where London dissects with a merciless realism microcosm of life on a ship, its tensions, its jealousies, its dramas and its ephemeral joys The least to say is that this is not dune mirth. Yet beneath this layer of dirt, grease and vice, always pierces humanity, touches us to the heart and even, at times, moving us jusquaux tears. A splendor, I tell you!
I admit frankly I naurais probably not loved this novel at this point without the character of Captain Wolf Larsen. Larsen is an enigma, a mystery all the more puzzling that Jack London never rise quite light on the events that transformed the man (exceptional in many respects) be a cold and dune animal ferocity. Featuring dune and dune colossal force no less desire, this is also a self-taught player that has devoured Shakespeare, Nietzsche, Kipling and many others which do not lempêche to kill a man with fists just for the pleasure of the act. Materialistic and cynical, he laughs merrily morality and the concept lady lively debates lopposent the incorrigible idealist narrator is one of the great charms of the novel. And we must admit that more than once, this is to the grim vision of the captain that bends the heart of the reader, so great is the seduction that broadcasts this mans devil! The narrator may well be very nice, this is Captain Larsen that I will keep an indelible memory: Larsen "wolves of the sea", his arrogance, his rage and bottomless despair.
A large and beautiful novel, probably the best of adventure story that he was given mait to read from "The great passage" Kenneth Roberts. I think Mr London and I nallons soon to get to know
