Rage Against the Machine (CD)

Customer Review

Rage Against The Machine (RATM) is among the groups that have marked an era and music.
And incorporating well as other musical styles, RATM is a precursor groups on the fusion of metal and rap. To recall the musical context, RATM was formed in 1991, output of the Use Your Illusion Guns N 'Roses, the black album Metallica and Nirvana's Nevermind. In 1992 released the first albums of RATM and Body Count, another rap / metal band.
Besides a genre apart, Rage Against The Machine is a committed group (in his words and acts) and protest vis-à-vis the "system" American.
Separated in 2000, after four studio albums (including cover album Renegades) and 1 live (plus Live & Rare album in import from Japan), the band reformed in 2007.

Ado and like others, I discovered the band with Killing In The Name greatly broadcast on. The album has the effect of a slap, a large dose of raw energy. Loved and "hacks" brilliant guitarist Tom Morello are for many.
I have less hooked on the next two, and Evil Empire Battle For LA

For me, a metal album is assessed as a whole, not just 1 or 2 tracks. RATM is a total success, more importantly for a first album!
Only 2 of the 10 tracks are for me below the other: Settle For Nothing and Fistful Of Steel. The others are excellent. My preference is for Know Your Enemy, Take The Power Back, Township Rebellion and Bullet In Your Head.

20 years after its release, the effect is always the same. A cult album!
