Is it possible to rebuild after a trauma?
How love can he destroy us?
First, after the announcement of its release, I really liked the cover. I just feel it announced sweetness and passion. I am not mistaken, a word about: suffering.
I quickly hooked up with the prologue. This novel early I particularly liked because we learn a lot about Isabeau few pages only. We unveiling several years of his life. So I knew very quickly that I was dealing with, and what was his and it lived in a prologue. What lay hold Isabeau in a wink. And the author has a pen in which I immediately acceded. The style is readable and the pages turn easily.
Then the story starts and you realize that the past of Isabeau hiding something very dark. Indeed, in the prologue, a period of his life has not been revealed and it is this part that has transformed our character. One can imagine all sorts of stories about his past. Especially given its reactions. Isabeau is suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder, which leads her to have extreme reactions when it comes to his feelings for a man, for example. She reacts too strongly, panic easily made crises. I admit that sometimes it was too much for me. I do not easily read this kind of story where the main character is so worried. Being evil, suffering and anguish are quickly communicated to the reader and reading is not always simple. His unpredictable behavior did not help me on that side. Because you never know what she is capable of. So I feared greatly revelation. And indeed, this is terrible. Isabeau lived a hassle. So we hope she will succeed to rebuild despite her experience. And Isabeau has that will. A will to heal, build a healthy life.
Maybe with Clarence, a man who asks to kiss in a pub, for a bet. But their relationship is not nearly as easy as I expected. Clarence too, has a painful past, due to an affair with a woman (very) unfaithful. For once, I loved the passionate relationship between Isabel and Clarence. It is passionate, intense. And again, we hope they will make the best when it gets complicated!
Verdict: A strong reading emotions, poignant, almost painful.
