Osama is the story of a young jihadist fundamentalist. A native of the Islamic Caliphate, it will go to the West, will taste to its charms without succumbing, will fatal attacks in France and will be dubbed Osama Fire, will participate in a war between Biafra and nigeria amid struggle for oil with the US, and will eventually .... But I'm not telling you otherwise where would the suspense. This book is narrated in the first person, from the point of view of Osama himself who is évidemmment rather favorable to fundamentalist Islam and anti American or anti tout court Occidental. When I read this book I could not help but make the connection with the same author Iron Dream. Iron Dream is a book written in the second degree, whose fictional author is Adolph Hitler, and which is actually intended to ridicule the Nazi ideology and the fascist tendencies of some SF too enamored of the myth of the superman . In this book it was the impression of a clinical analysis of empathic but Osama motivations as those of the US, motivations leading to the inevitable catastrophe. However, I hope that this book is written in the second degree, otherwise it's a little pride to the nice jihadist fundamentalist who wants to destroy the rest of the planet in the name of Islam against the Great Satan loose and American overkill evil (it is not me who wrote it is the words of the narrative) that merely protect the oil fields (in order to monopolize the course). Spinrad has always been critical of his own country. This is his trademark and what makes the interest of the books he wrote about the USA, however in this novel it might be a bit excessive. Your turn to judge. Despite all this is an excellent book, not at all boring, one reads in one go, even depriving themselves of sleep until 5 am, so we want to know the end. For that reason alone this book is highly recommended. And it must have read it at least once to get an opinion on the subject. Finally it is pretty well documented on Mecca, we learn things we do not know about it, allowing to sleep less stupid. I urge all those who love Spinrad. Read it, I want to know what others thought.
