An exciting story, exciting, that will not leave anyone indifferent!

Kaleb is the bad boy we love all. Black jeans, white t-shirt, biker, sunglasses, tall, dark, looking a bit dangerous ... *** sigh *** ... but especially a nice guy, who did not known his mother died in childbirth, and who moved every 2 years since he was born. Because the cousin of the mother of kaleb, entrusting the child then came a few months old daddy (and he did not know existed) warns him, claiming that their lives are threatened, and that he should not remain the same place more than two years away. After many moves a little everywhere, his father decided to relocate to Paris. This is where everything will start, Kaleb will discover that the powers will rot his life.
So of course Kaleb is not a novel to put all hands, it is also well on the cover, because even if it's a children's book, there is a certain limit. I find it the term "youth" can sometimes be quite reductive finally, for I have not found this very novel for children, on the contrary, but hey, here we enter into another debate ...

The story: I think this is one of aspects of the book that I preferred, it has no idea where the author is going to take us, we guess very little, if any, following the events, c 'Quite simply, anything can happen, and that's what is good.

The style of the author: short sentences incisors, going directly to the heart of things, all this gives a very good rhythm reading, which becomes in some ways a reflection of what happens to the hero. I liked this style, and I am really curious to know the identity of the author (since it's a nickname) because I'd like to discover other of its publications ...

The characters: Kaleb is not the hero as viewed, he chooses to protect itself at the expense of others. It makes us ask the question, how far would you go to protect yourself? What would you be willing to do to defend your life? Kaleb him, he is ready for anything, no matter the damage caused. Although at first we discover a Kaleb which hardly contain his anger, and that fight easily, victim of his impulses and his powers, thereafter, Kaleb will choose to use them, he knows that his life is threatened, then he will do whatever it takes to stay alive. Somehow I understood it, and so I do not hate the contrary. He is a young man touching, and even if we feel that in this beautiful appearance slumbers something potentially dangerous, one can not help loving and wanting to protect it.
The big villain of the story is the Bergsson Colonel. He heads the Sentinel network search and arrest people as Kaleb, children of the volcano. It is a hard man, to others but to himself, he gives no respite, no distractions, he controls everything. It's scary, you feel that it is capable of anything, and especially worse. It is also the origin of interrogations and harsh torture. It instills terror around him, but also a form of respect.
The assistant of Colonel is an enigmatic character. She suffered more than anyone moods and the fury of the Colonel. I wanted to take this character, and see its evolution throughout history, it is a strong and courageous woman, that life has not spared. Just for this character I look forward to reading Volume 2. We discover at the same time elements of the past Sentinel, through a newspaper, why the network has become so uncompromising with EDV. I loved this passage of history, which at first seem insignificant little, but as we will discover at the end, of utmost importance. This allows us to understand the actions of the Sentinel network, but also makes us think: should we condemn all for the actions of a person? The death of thousands of people she apologizes tracking down and destroying others?

Finally, it is a novel that I loved. There is a lot of mystery, the stakes are revealed to us as and when we discover things together with the characters, and we understand that ultimately everything is connected. Oppressive and dangerous situations, which is difficult to guess the outcome. Characters that are neither all white nor entirely black. A novel that makes you think.
