Prerequisites:
- Exchange BELKIN routers (not stable, moderate WLAN reception and no Ausreizen acquired Internet speed)
- House about 140sqm
Directly connected to the Cisco modem - - positioning of ASUS AC66U in the basement hallway
- Use as a router
- Unitymedia (down 120 Mbps / 6 Mbps up)
Now for ASUS AC66U (relevant aspects for me):
- Look in white -> 5 stars
- Housing -> Solid and high quality
- Installation / configuration -> 5 stars (very easy)
- DynDNS / port forwarding -> works
- Fixed allocation MAC addresses to IP addresses within the DHCP -> works
- Setting wireless periods and wireless signal strength -> works
- Use as a router, access point, repeater -> possible, but have not tried
- Test Results Internet speeds over a LAN (Gigabit network) -> an average of 120 Mbps download and 6 Mbps upload (easy TOP)
- Wireless Internet -> throughout the house and garden is now wireless reception in the 2.4 GHz range without amplifiers possible; in the 5 GHz range, the connection is 'only' in the living area and can optimally to the distance to markedly
- Test Results lounge (EC) with iPad Air and notebook -> 2.4GHz on average 80 Mbps in the download; 5 Ghz on average 100 Mbps (easily TOP)
- Test result farthest room (about 10m away from the router, two blankets and two underfloor between) -> 2.4GHz on average 15 Mbps; 5 GHz no reception
A little for me but not relevant criticism I have. The blue LED lights in conjunction with the white housing are already bright and flashing from time to time. Since I have the router in the basement for me that is not relevant, but perhaps for the prospective buyers who did not want to set up in the closet the router in the living room.
Overall, a good device for my needs.
