The UX305 is extremely thin (12.3 mm) and lightweight (1.2 kg) and still made entirely of aluminum and very resistant to twisting.
I chose the version with full HD (1920 x 1080 px) and 128GB SSD, since QHD "does not make sense for me + to 13.3 and 128 GB are sufficient for me and can be expanded later.
The performance of the Intel Core M with integrated Intel HD 5300 in conjunction with 8 GB RAM ensure a continuous liquid over experience. Even with 30 open Chrome tabs, Spotify playback and open Steam running a UHD film without any lag.
Nevertheless, you should be aware, that's "gamble" the UX305 NOT suitable for - Legend of Grimrock. Batman Arkham Origins: Black Gate, Deus Ex: The Fall, etc. run still liquid - for everything else the built SoC, however, too weak.
But that's UX305 also not designed - it is fanless, passively cooled design with concentric circle pattern on the back just terrific! In addition, the UX305 starts up in 4 seconds!
The Zenbook is absolutely even under load no sound and comes with a battery life of about 10 hours hence.
The UX305 is running with Windows 8.1 and is (thank God!) Without a touchscreen, therefore, in my opinion, on desktop computers and notebooks that do not Convertibles are absolutely makes no sense. In the summer it will run with Windows 10, whose design change this only confirms.
In the spacious supplied a USB 3.0 LAN adapter, a protective case, a cable manager, a cleaning cloth and several instructions is received except a well manufactured PSU.
2 small criticisms, there is in my eyes:
The keyboard is not illuminated, which would be helpful in the dark and is even integrated into non-EU version (!).
The recovery partition eats lush 20GB - but let himself (only) remove by reinstalling.
A "loud" touchpad I can not confirm, the "sound" is perfectly normal and the touch gestures are very helpful / useful, replacing mostly a dedicated print.
Conclusion:
Anyone looking for a really nice, Great processed, updates "Ultrabook", makes the Asus Zenbook UX305 nothing wrong - just for a price of 799 (as of 04/22/15), it is almost a bargain and truly better alternative to appropriate iDreck pedant from Cupertino.
Tip:
Who some programs "out of focus" appear, which represents the "Desktop -> Customize -> display", the scaling to "manual" and one step lower.
