Book on the nature of Buddhism

Many books deal of Buddhism seen by a particular school and do not give an overview of Buddhism,
its history, its diversity but also of the fundamental concepts that make it unique in its diversity.
Other books, wanting to Addresser to a wide audience no substance.
Some books offer stories of Buddhism but were of interest to the history buff because it helps
nothing to understand Buddhism today.
Cornu's book is divided into themes or issues arising in contemporary terms that often correspond to as partial and erroneous views of
Buddhism but uses it to approach the heart of Buddhism. Go gradually the (assumed) known to the unknown
is an excellent pedagogical approach. Each historical mention, and they are many, help to clarify the meaning
Buddhism.

Cornu great learning combined with high quality writing and we also feel that it is a practitioner and not a
single university.
It attempts to explain Buddhism in an understandable way by a Western and dismantles the common prejudices
while showing news of Buddhism.

One may regret the absence of index and thinness of the glossary, which is a pity for a reference book
one would like to reopen to review a certain term in the context of a more general chapter.
There certainly has the encyclopaedia by the same author, but already requires a good knowledge of Buddhism
Otherwise an individual article is little sense. And the transitive research references is an exhausting exercise.

The author speaks in passing an upcoming book. I look forward as well as its availability for Kindle.

So 5 stars for an outstanding book despite the publisher that has not done its job (no index nevertheless necessary for a reference book) and not representative of the content.
I have not bought the book if I did not already know the quality of the author.
