4 or 5 star "Romeo and Juliet"? Suddenly this type of assessment seems futile ... when it concerns works so much embedded in our collective imagination ... What still this love story that is probably the most famous in the world? What to say that has not already been said? There is therefore no question of recalling and justify the place of this work in world literature. Let's just say, and more pragmatically, that Pockett edition has a particular interest in the offer pages "left" comments and extensions to better situate the piece in context, identify intertextuality, understand codes and Elizabethan baroque theater ... This will be especially useful to students who are particularly looking at this work ... even if that is not enough to replace a good teacher ;-) However, note that the translation is that of François-Victor Hugo (whose son you know ...): it is the best known, the most classic ... and one can prefer more recent translations (that Bonnefoy for example). In fact, a very good way to (re) discover this great literary model is through the cinema ... A must see: Zeffirelli's Romeo (1968) and that of Luhrmann (1996), two very different versions but remarkable all two copies each in its own way by their compliance with the spirit (and letter) of the work of the great Will ... And if you go through Verona, remember to go under the balcony of Juliet ... but avoid perhaps add graffiti on walls saturated "evidence" (???) love ...
