Braun Gillette Venus Naked Skin against Philips Lumea Essential Plus and Lumea Comfort

Philips SC1981 / 00 IPL hair removal system Lumea Comfort, white (Personal Care)

Customer Review

I was allowed to test several of IPL devices. The principle works for me very well (light skin, dark thick hair), the appropriate tests can be here Braun Gillette Venus Naked Skin IPL Intense Pulsed Light Hair Removal
And here Philips SC1992 / 00 Lumea Essential Plus know read.

Now the question arises, what is the equipment better, or to which devices for who is better.

The underlying technology is the same for all three devices, they differ only in the implementation and in the security measures. The devices differ even in the general safety instructions.

1. The technology has some pitfalls:
According to Brown allowed the treatment may only be carried out when the skin is not tanned. According to Philip Lumea Essential Plus must not be flashed on freshly tanned skin. One should wait at least two weeks after sunbathing or having used self According to Philips SC1981 / 00 IPL hair removal system Lumea Comfort, white.

From my own experience I can say, yes you can on tanned skin flashes, BUT this is the tan slightly uneven and blotchy for some days. The effect is lost, but you should point out (which neither of the two producers making).
According to Brown one may in time not epilation (is logical because without Harr, no melanin and therefore no effect). According to Philip you can start immediately after the epilation, but should shave before the treatment. Here Philip silent just once that there is no halt effect with treatment with epilation and you should change already at least two weeks in advance to shaving.

2. Deteriorating safety instructions:
The safety instructions have come too short with the guidance of both devices. According to my beautician birthmarks and liver spots should be covered with a white eyeliner or Tipp Ex. These notes are nowhere in the instructions for use, as well as safety goggles. The flashes are very intense and you see yourself with your eyes closed and when one looks away. I recommend safety goggles to purchase, because if you look but accidentally times towards flash, it takes a long time until you see no more asterisks.
Do not flash when you're pregnant! It is indeed quite rayed, that's not good for an embryo without eyelids.

3. Painful or not?
Here Braun differ significantly from Philip, also due to the different mode of operation:
When Brown unit of flash head sits directly on the skin, it gets warmer / hotter and therefore the cooling gel is definitely needed as protection. In the bikini area and under the arms have to be a tough guy (and the money should probably do previously in the fridge)
Lumea Essential Plus is painless, for one simple reason: The flash head is not directly on the skin, but is held by the top 1 cm away. The light is mounted in the inside of the mirror again strengthened to compensate for the loss of intensity by the distance again. There is no protective gel needed, thus there are no follow-up costs, such as the Braun unit.
Comfort Lumea a third way between Brown and Lumea Essential Plus. The distance from the skin is reduced to about 3-4 mm, which is significantly closer to the skin than in Essential Plus system, but omitting the mirror and placed reinforcing a yellow filter on the lamp, but still without gel.

4. Security: Which of the devices is more secure?
The Braun unit flashes only after a sensor has the skin tone checked, and the intensity was adjusted accordingly. The user often has few powers. Will you less intensity, one must look for a darker skin site, on the other hand, one can not burn because it is not possible to set the unit to strong.
When Lumea Essential Plus must / can / must you define the intensity yourself to a color chart, which has been settled. There are 6 stages (at Brown 4). On one hand, you can define as naturally a more comfortable intensity (if you're a wimp), but may be too low to actually achieve an effect. So it is possible to set a too high intensity, and getting burned. Yes, life is dangerous, and the man was still able to make their own decisions, but some people are just irresponsible.
This device, Lumea Comfort, however, has a sensor. So you can choose yourself, but if you set too high, the unit warns. So if you're a wimp, you can flash with lower intensity. The perfect solution to the problem.

5. effort:
In Brown disproportionately higher than the Philipps device. Both heads are indeed from the area the same size, but the Braun unit Bride Felt ages to load the lamp, and trigger. Lumea flashes every 3 seconds, which is much faster. On the other hand when Braun appliance clear, was was flashed and what is not. One can see the footprints in the gel, the Lumea is flying blind after feeling very inaccurate and has certainly always diverse skin or whole strips that have not Flashed. As the but ultimately statistically rausmittelt over a longer period, so that's not much of a problem. One problem is rather that the Lumea device has a much larger contact area and some places are not thereby blitzbar because not enough skin contact is there. Ankles and shins are there partly problematic, especially if you are less well padded.

6. With whom does it work?
You can say to try only. The hair color is not the only determining factor. Anyone who has thick, fast growing, dark hair on light skin (1.5 cm 2 per month), in which it will work in any case. A noticeable effect is always only 2 weeks of treatment, just before the next treatment. Who sees no effect after 3 treatments, it can be also remain because it will not stop even after long last long.
Underarms and bikini area hair will never disappear permanently, which is hormonal and not located on the device, but they can be thinner. On the legs with me actually means gone away permanently. If hair had just struck, they recover again. So a few years obediently flashes every winter and which would have to settle permanently.

7. relamping
Neither Brown nor possible at Philipps. Allegedly, because it is not necessary that the lamp should hold for a person 5 years. Too bad, if there are several people in a household or friends so should share a not very cheap device. Also in terms of Recourcenschohnung it is unacceptable if such wearing parts are not interchangeable. After working all three devices on cable, so that the battery problem even occurs in addition.

8. Which monitor is now the right thing?
Generally: Even due to the elimination of pesky contact gel I would rather advise to Philip because Brown.
Philips SC1992 / 00 Lumea Essential Plus, white or rather this small device?
Philips SC1992 / 00 Lumea Essential Plus, white:
- More expensive
- No sensor
+ Is better in the hand (I think)

Philips SC1981 / 00 IPL hair removal system Lumea Comfort, white
+ Much cheaper
+ Sensor
+/- I can keep it bad, to me it's too clunky, on the other hand it is smaller and takes away less space.
- The unit is on prolonged use if you pervades the entire program quite warm, it shows the handle of the Philips SC1992 / 00 Lumea Essential Plus, do not know, here I find it a little uncomfortable, but maybe I think it is easy wrong because I can take it badly and it suits me badly in his hand. Perhaps we should first of all take into their own hands and try to see if you can grab it well.

9. Conclusion: Both Lumea devices work in general. Just until the fall or early winter to think about which device is right for you. Now, in summer, you can not glance anyway, because you will hardly long to avoid the sun to be able to 2 weeks and does not want to walk around with stained tan or long pants.
