My third Mankell, after "The Fifth Woman" and "The Invisible Wall", the three played in chronological disorder total. A "thriller" efficient and perfectly crafted, but cafardeux wish. Rains and Swedish mists for a time abandoned by the Commissioner Wallander, seem almost laughing with a Latvian nightmare, still mired in the throes of Soviet totalitarianism dying but still kills. Wallander is a cop full of humanity, infinitely friendly, but plagued by depression almost permanent. And a depression that has a malignant tendency to communicate to the reader ... Well, for the coming winter, I think I'll go warm up a bit in Sicily by Andrea Camilleri and Commissioner Montalbano. This is not indecencies there are lower, far from it, but at least there is the sun! My next Mankell, it will be for spring ... if it's sunny!
