Like no other album of the 70's has "What's Going On" the history of music influenced, especially when it comes to soul music. The expressive melodies, haunting lyrics and Gaye anytime precise emotional vocals make the work a perfect part of any music collection. Titles such as "Mercy, Mercy Me" (my personal favorite), "What's Going On" and "Inner City Blues" have long been classics of soul music and have lost none of their appeal. And there is no reason why that should change.
