I have a Canon EOS 1100D and I've bought these extension tubes because me a macro lens is simply too expensive. Have all tried rings. Once the original Canon lens (18-55mm) and my lens from Sigma (18-200mm). It works flawlessly. Miracles are thus not to be expected. But then only a real macro lens is probably still in question (if only because of the handling, because then you do not exchange more rings and has to screw it). As a cheaper alternative to provide this but I can very well live with it. The autofocus does not always work. So you sometimes have to manually adjust the focus. With practice and patience but that is no problem and you can get great shots. On the quality of the rings can not be faulted. They look very solid.
My conclusion: For a beginner (myself included), it is a very good and inexpensive alternative. Sometime I buy secure a proper lens for close-ups, but until that happens, I photograph diligently with the rings on. I can definitely recommend it. It now has to decide for themselves ...
